Different Perspective

I love tata nano for its practicality in design for the city driving. I have been recommending it to many people and here are the pros and cons - PROS I have driven it till 100 Km/hr comfortably. The turning radius is amazing. Almost like a motor bike. So makes it very easy to manoeuvre in city jams and sharp turns. Decent pickup for 2 people and a small car. Enough room in front passenger seat to sit comfortably cross legged. Good A/C when there are two or 1 people are sitting. Cheap maintenance - All parts are cheap. Excellent ground clearance - Goes excellently over bad roads and big speed breakers, without scraping bottom. CONS Noise - The cabin is noisy with the rear mounted engine. Brakes - Having all drum brakes, make the braking a little sluggish. A/C -in 40+ temperature and with 2+ people it becomes completely ineffective. No left rear view mirror - Added in recent model. Bad average - I get an average of barely 14, even on my best driving. But this has...

People generally assume that car rental is very expensive and owning a car is cheaper. Here is a sample analysis for the same, Assuming Car Value = 5 lacs Expense Per month Interest = 4000 Depreciation = 6000 (for first yr) Insurance = 1000 Maintenance =1000 Driver = 8000 Lets assume 1000 km a month and average of 15 Petrol = 4500 Total expense for 1000 Km for a month = 24500. i.e. 24.5 Rs/Km Most radio cabs charge from 15-20 Rs per KM. So it isn't really a bad deal. However your own car offers a huge convenience of using it anytime at a moments notice and personalization. 

The only automatic small car that you can find in India is the Hyundai i10 kappa sportz model. I always used to think that automatic does not make much sense, but now when i drive it, I see it makes a much easier drives in constant jammed traffic that we have, and also people who do not know how to drive stick shift vehicles can adapt and learn to drive such cars very quickly. I am impressed with automatic cars, and surely suggest it to anybody thinking of buying a good small easy car for Delhi traffic.

After visiting the St. patricks day parade in raleigh, decided to go to Walmart. Reached walmart with the help of the map, without much goofup except the indicators and wiper. Intermixed both of them, and it became worst in the way back when it started raining and i needed to use both. I took a wrong turn on way back and got lost for goood. Went back and forth and all arounf, Tried calling 2 people i know here and both did not pickup the phone. Stopped at a store enroute and asked for directions, the guy was new. Now i thought, i might have chewn more than i can digest. So back to basics, come back to the Highway u know and again try to retrace the map...problem, u have already exceeded it and 40 E, it to be 40 west now. Anyways went the opposite way on main highway and went round and round, i think for a 6 mile trip i travelled 50 miles. With the latest launch of nano by tata, everybody has started worrying about the traffic,, and it is outrightly stupid..Why- 2 wheelers provide better average and are cheaper to maintain..So all 2 wheeler people wont shift. Those who buy premium bikes, buy for fun, not because of economy. And car under 1 lack was available (though second hand) and the EMI culture made also the car with 3-3.5 lack bracket affordable.. We need to applaud the tata wonder, the engineering and cost marvel they have done. It should be a nano inspiration .

This is in continuation for You and your car- Safari- Those who want to own an SUV with a panache for style. Do not want to really go for proper high end SUV. ust an SUV which has some style and can handle Indian roads. These are people whom i may be friends with. Scorpio- People who want an economical, decent SUV with decent performance and they don't want to own innova/tavera which have the taxi image. These are people with whom friendship can be done with care. Innova/tavera- These are analyst people, or those who understand that indian car will have Indian troubles, so better go in for international SUV with decent price and performance. Somehow i feel these are the people with whom i wont just click,,,not my type, but i may like them for Analyst mind and understanding of the cars. Accent- Good price etc, average people, who are smart enough to understand that esteem is outdated and buy the 3 box car made for Indian people with good price. This is my opinion and nothing personal..pppl plz dont get emotional incase something u dont like.. I feel that your car, tells about the personality of the individual. Here is my take- Alto/maruti 800- They want a 4 wheeler and can barely afford one. santro/zen/wagon r- Want a decent 4 wheeler in the small car segment. One to go to office and come back. Swift and premium hatchbacks- Those who want a small car but like to flaunt. Who want more power but not yet ready to go in for more powerful and expensive 3 box cars. Fiat palio/petra- Car lovers taken in by the fabulous price and the driving pleasure. Indica- price conscious, want everything. Good/decent people. Esteem- Those who want a 3 box car and high resale value. Do not find driving to be a pleasurable experience, Its just something that has to be done. Now i have decided to chuck the regular authorised service station for my fiat petra in favor of my local mechanic. Atleast i am sure about the quality of the oil, and get the job done in no time under my supervision. The oil i checked recently and it looked pretty dirty, time to get it and the filter changed, and CNG also needs checking, Done almost 10k with my CNG now. Powered by ScribeFire .
