How to get wheel chair on Terminal 3, Delhi Airport

Recently i had to drop a senior citizen at airport who was traveling alone to Abu-Dhabi from Delhi via indigo Airlines.

There is paid wheelchair service readily available at airport for Rs 1100+Tax. The challenge is to get the free wheelchair by airlines.

The Airlines does not give any clear instructions on how to get a wheelchair at airport, nor is there any signage.  The signage for wheelchair help is there only in lounge area after gate8, but when you reach there it seems only Indian Airlines and 1-2 others have a reception office there.

Now security people at gate8 lounge, told me that i might find indigo staff around gate 5 who may help in this. At Gate 5, i was told that indigo has office at lounge near reception 1. On reaching the indigo office in lounge area near Gate 1, again i was directed to go to gate 5. At this point i lost patience and told the staff on my ordeal of running from gate 8 to gate 1 and all around.

Finally they called wheel chair at office there, and then i took the assistant to the old passenger who was waiting near gate 5, and then made entry.

Summary

Go to lounge near gate 1 of Indira Gandhi international airport terminal 3 for the wheel chair. There you need to contact the airline office.
